Price features of the secondary car market in Ukraine: regional analysis
In Ukraine, there is a significant regional difference in average prices for used cars. This variability is due to geographical, economic and social factors influencing the formation of price policy in each individual region.
Regions with the lowest prices
The lowest average prices for used cars are recorded in areas directly bordering war zones or partially occupied:
- Kherson region
- Donetsk region
- Luhansk region
In these regions, car markets operate with restrictions, which leads to less renewal of the car fleet and, accordingly, to lower average prices for used cars.
Regions with the highest prices
Instead, the highest average prices are observed in the regions located closer to the western border of Ukraine, as well as in the capital region:
- Lviv region
- Volyn region
- Chernivtsi region
- Kyiv region (including the city of Kyiv)
- Odesa region
These regions are characterized by the active import of "freshly driven" cars from Europe, which contributes to the increase in average prices. In particular, Kyiv is the leader in sales of new cars, which subsequently replenish the secondary market, reducing the average age of the offered cars and increasing their value. Odesa region, thanks to the developed infrastructure of supply and repair of cars from America, Korea and China, also shows higher average prices.

Influence of geographical location on price policy
The analysis shows a direct dependence of the average prices for used cars on the geographical location of the region: the further the region from the war zone and the closer to the western border, the higher the average prices. This is due to both economic activity and logistical possibilities of importing cars from abroad.
Thus, the regional peculiarities of the formation of prices on the secondary market of passenger cars in Ukraine reflect the complex influence of geographical, economic and social factors that determine the availability and cost of used vehicles for consumers in different regions of the country.
